About natural smoke ventilation (nshev)
Natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilation (NSHEV) uses the buoyancy of hot smoke to escape through high-level AOVs, with low-level inlet air.
The most common system in UK residential stairs, low-rise flats, HMOs and atriums.
Local considerations in Jordanstown, Antrim and Newtownabbey
In Northern Ireland, smoke ventilation in new and altered buildings is designed under Technical Booklet E of the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland), and once the building is occupied the responsible person has duties under the Fire and Rescue Services (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 and the Fire Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 to keep fire safety systems, including natural smoke ventilation (nshev), in good working order.
Around Jordanstown we often work on smaller blocks, rural businesses, farms and private homes, where power supply and cable runs can be longer, so we check these at survey.
We check vent locations, inlet air, controller and fire alarm interface. The from price is the smallest controller; full systems are quoted after survey.
