About stair pressurisation systems
A pressurisation (pressure differential) system blows clean air into a stair or lobby so it stays at higher pressure and smoke cannot enter.
Used in high-rise residential, offices and firefighting shafts.
Local considerations in Pontypool, Torfaen County Borough
In Wales, smoke ventilation in new and altered buildings is designed under Approved Document B as published by the Welsh Government, and once the building is occupied the responsible person has duties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 as it applies in Wales to keep fire safety systems, including stair pressurisation systems, in good working order.
At roughly 173 m above sea level, Pontypool sees more wind, driving rain and frost than lowland areas, so we pay attention to weather sealing, cable entries and, for vents, rain and wind sensors.
Work in Pontypool is a mix of residential blocks, schools, offices, industrial units and homes, and we tailor the specification to how busy the site is.
We check fans, relief vents, door forces and controls. Price shown is a comparable controller; quoted after survey.
