About stair pressurisation systems

A pressurisation (pressure differential) system blows clean air into a stair or lobby so it stays at higher pressure and smoke cannot enter.

Used in high-rise residential, offices and firefighting shafts.

Local considerations in Shaftesbury, Dorset

In England, smoke ventilation in new and altered buildings is designed under Approved Document B of the Building Regulations (England), and once the building is occupied the responsible person has duties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to keep fire safety systems, including stair pressurisation systems, in good working order.

At roughly 207 m above sea level, Shaftesbury sees more wind, driving rain and frost than lowland areas, so we pay attention to weather sealing, cable entries and, for vents, rain and wind sensors.

Around Shaftesbury we often work on smaller blocks, rural businesses, farms and private homes, where power supply and cable runs can be longer, so we check these at survey.

We check fans, relief vents, door forces and controls. Price shown is a comparable controller; quoted after survey.

Maintenance of stair pressurisation systems in Shaftesbury

Planned maintenance keeps stair pressurisation systems safe and reliable and gives you records for insurers and inspections. We service Ventlux and all other makes: we check fixings, wear, power and battery backup, controls and safety devices, adjust and lubricate where needed, test operation end to end and leave a written report with any recommended actions.
