About rain & wind sensors
Rain and wind sensors close vents used for daily ventilation when weather turns. Smoke mode overrides them.
On roof vents and windows with comfort ventilation.
Local considerations in Currie, City of Edinburgh
In Scotland, smoke ventilation in new and altered buildings is designed under the Scottish Building Standards Technical Handbooks (Section 2: Fire), and once the building is occupied the responsible person has duties under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 to keep fire safety systems, including rain & wind sensors, in good working order.
Around Currie we often work on smaller blocks, rural businesses, farms and private homes, where power supply and cable runs can be longer, so we check these at survey.
We mount the sensor clear of drips and shelter and wire it to the panel.
