About smoke vent roof hatches
A smoke vent roof hatch is a roof hatch that both opens automatically as an AOV and gives maintenance access to the roof.
Used on flat roofs above stairs in blocks of flats and commercial buildings.
Local considerations in Blackwood, Caerphilly County Borough
In Wales, smoke ventilation in new and altered buildings is designed under Approved Document B as published by the Welsh Government, and once the building is occupied the responsible person has duties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 as it applies in Wales to keep fire safety systems, including smoke vent roof hatches, in good working order.
At roughly 227 m above sea level, Blackwood sees more wind, driving rain and frost than lowland areas, so we pay attention to weather sealing, cable entries and, for vents, rain and wind sensors.
