About smoke vent roof hatches
A smoke vent roof hatch is a roof hatch that both opens automatically as an AOV and gives maintenance access to the roof.
Used on flat roofs above stairs in blocks of flats and commercial buildings.
Local considerations in High Peak, Derbyshire
In England, smoke ventilation in new and altered buildings is designed under Approved Document B of the Building Regulations (England), and once the building is occupied the responsible person has duties under the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order 2005 to keep fire safety systems, including smoke vent roof hatches, in good working order.
At roughly 335 m above sea level, High Peak sees more wind, driving rain and frost than lowland areas, so we pay attention to weather sealing, cable entries and, for vents, rain and wind sensors.
Work in High Peak is a mix of residential blocks, schools, offices, industrial units and homes, and we tailor the specification to how busy the site is.
We check the upstand size, roof build-up, ladder access and free area.
