Local considerations in Crumlin, Antrim and Newtownabbey

In Northern Ireland, smoke ventilation in new and altered buildings is designed under Technical Booklet E of the Building Regulations (Northern Ireland), and once the building is occupied the responsible person has duties under the Fire and Rescue Services (Northern Ireland) Order 2006 and the Fire Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 to keep fire safety systems, including roof smoke vents, in good working order.

Around Crumlin we often work on smaller blocks, rural businesses, farms and private homes, where power supply and cable runs can be longer, so we check these at survey.

We check roof pitch and covering, the kerb or upstand, opening angle and access.
