Used at the head of stairs in flats, offices and HMOs.

Local considerations in Stonehouse, South Lanarkshire

In Scotland, smoke ventilation in new and altered buildings is designed under the Scottish Building Standards Technical Handbooks (Section 2: Fire), and once the building is occupied the responsible person has duties under the Fire (Scotland) Act 2005 to keep fire safety systems, including roof smoke vents, in good working order.

At roughly 153 m above sea level, Stonehouse sees more wind, driving rain and frost than lowland areas, so we pay attention to weather sealing, cable entries and, for vents, rain and wind sensors.

Around Stonehouse we often work on smaller blocks, rural businesses, farms and private homes, where power supply and cable runs can be longer, so we check these at survey.

We check roof pitch and covering, the kerb or upstand, opening angle and access.

Planned maintenance keeps roof smoke vents safe and reliable and gives you records for insurers and inspections. We service Ventlux and all other makes: we check fixings, wear, power and battery backup, controls and safety devices, adjust and lubricate where needed, test operation end to end and leave a written report with any recommended actions.
